Rewatering of the Illinois Michigan Canal

Rewatering of the Illinois Michigan Canal

This will entail re-watering a half mile long area. After completion, people will be able to paddle boat, fish, and practice canoeing and kayaking. In the winter, the area can be used for ice skating. The U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Reserves engineering units will do the necessary earth-moving. This will be an official U.S. military training exercise approved all the way up at the Pentagon level. The I&M canal is historically significant in that it turns 170 this year.
