“Laughing Lincoln” Sculpture

“Laughing Lincoln” Sculpture

Lincoln is a globally recognized and celebrated leader of the United States of America. “Laughing Lincoln” portrays his youth and humor. He is 30-years old. It is 1839. He served in the House with Joe Naper, founder of Naperville. There are parallels and inspirations to be had when reflecting upon 200 years of history. Today there are over 12-million people in Illinois. This unique sculpture captures an endearing part of Abe’s humanity; something that all people can identify with: humor, hard work, storytelling, common, strong. His creative presence positively impacts the minds and hopes of those seeking to navigate trying times. The sculpture brings focus to Naperville, to Illinois and to America. “Laughing Lincoln,” the sculpture and the story will have a very strong impact for the reasons above.

Community partners include the City of Naperville, SECA Commission, Naperville Park District, service organizations, businesses and residents. Century Walk’s committee for the sculpture, Laughing Lincoln Jubilee and State of Illinois 200th Birthday Bash include many talented people with direct hands-on involvement in the success of the sculpture, the Bicentennial and Century Walk.
