Thornton: Yesterday and Today

Saturday, September 22, 2018

Village of Thornton, 115 E. Margaret, Thornton, Illinois

8:00 am - 8:00 pm

The Village of Thornton will be hosting a full day of activities throughout the Village. These events will all be themed with ‘Yesterday and Today’. Our local school will be hosting our first event, they will showcase what school was like 200 years ago and then show what they are doing in education today. Our local American Legion, Lions Club and Tee Ball organizations will be hosting baseball tournaments where some games are played by past players under ‘old time baseball rules’, then the kids will play games under today’s rules. After the games, the Lions Club will host a BBQ for all the participants and public. The Legion will also host displays of war memorabilia from various wars in our nation’s history. Our local Historical Society will showcase items from Thornton’s past and explain how they are preserving them today. The day will end with a Vesper Service hosted by our Historical Society and local religious leaders.
