During the home opener and throughout the 2018 football home schedule, NIU will recognize some of the historic and significant contributions the university, local community and northern Illinois region has had on the state during its first 200 years. NIU Athletics plans to partner with the DeKalb County Convention and Visitors Bureau (DCCVB) to highlight a number of our local attractions (Ellwood House/Barb Wire Museum, DeKalb County History Center, DeKalb Kite Fest, Whiskey Acres, Jonamac Orchard, etc.) as part of NIU’s recognition of the Illinois Bicentennial.
