Each Fall the streets of Downtown Mt. Vernon are packed and overflowing with friends and families, live performances, incredible foods and celebrations of autumn. In its seventh year, the Mt. Vernon Fall Fest is celebrating Illinois with the theme “Illinois Proud”. You’ll see the theme permeating throughout the entire three-day festival.
A celebrated, 100+ entry parade, that features a Marching Band Expo awarding $4000 in prizes to help fund regional middle & high school bands, returns to Fall Fest 2018 on Saturday, September 29. Drawing nearly 20,000 viewers, the Fall Fest parade is not a festival event to be missed. This year, participants will build floats, decorate trailers, trucks & automobiles, gather families and friends, and even develop impressive marching band routines all to the theme “Illinois Proud” We will celebrate the state we live in!
Main Stage Live Entertainment: From Friday at 5 p.m. until Sunday at 5 p.m. entertainment at Fall Fest is in abundance. Performer details will be announced soon, but we can tell you Blues Sunday is coming back in 2018!
Kids Zone: The Fall Fest Kids Zone exploded in recent years! With inflatables for both children and adults, it will be non-stop fun all weekend long! There will also be laser tag, a petting zoo, Primitive Escape Games and more!
Kicking off Saturday morning activities is the third annual Fall Fest 5K for Special Olympics at 8 a.m. with a walk/run in beautiful Downtown Mt. Vernon! Enjoy the history of Mt. Vernon as you start your day giving back to the Special Olympics. And if you’re a fan of sleek machines and motors, you won’t want to miss the DMDC’s Cruise-In Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m. with live music, prizes and everything from classic cars to monster trucks to two-wheeled beauties from every generation. Let your kids test their treasure hunting skills on Saturday afternoon with the Tri-State Treasure Hunt for Kids, as they search for coins on the 9th Street Plaza and join in on the Mt. Vernon Business Women’s Club “Great Pumpkin Contest” also on Saturday, with cash prizes for the most impressively decorated pumpkins.
