Mill Road Thresherman’s Association 37th Annual Show

Friday, August 10, 2018 - Sunday, August 12, 2018

Effingham County Fair Grounds, 722 E Cumberland Rd, Altamont, Illinois, Illinois

8:00 am - 3:00 pm

For the past 37 years the Millroad Thresherman Association has put on a yearly antique farming and tractor show celebrating farming as it has been practiced in Illinois for more than 200 years. At the show we have everything from horse farming to steam threshing and baling to farm equipment that would have been common in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Along with the machinery demonstrations we have demonstrations by blacksmiths, broom making, sawmilling, bee keeping, antique farming, and quilting. For example, this year our tractor show features John Deere tractors, specifically the 100th anniversary of the Waterloo Boy and the 90th anniversary of the GP. Both built in Illinois by John Deere & Co of Moline. John Deere’s self-scouring steel plow, first made in 1837, made it possible to till the fertile Illinois soil. Plows produced prior to that were inadequate for the job. Our other feature tractor is Hart-Parr Oliver, while these tractors were built in neighboring Midwestern states but they were no stranger to the Illinois prairies.

Cost of Admission: $5
