What

Since 1983, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a Federal Holiday acknowledged annually on the 3rd Monday of January. Sounds Of Good News Productions (SOGN) “YES” Club is presenting our “Let it SHINE!” 12th Annual Dr. King Day Celebration on Monday, January 15, 2018 (Dr. King’s exact Birthday, born 1/15/29; last time was 10 years ago in 2007) @ First Free Rockford Church @ 2223 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61107 (Noon VIP Awards Ceremony; 1PM Program). Our Keynote Speaker is IL Lt. Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti. Special Award Recipients will include Gloria Cardenas Cudia (Member of the Bicentennial Commission) as well as George Buss (Gettysburg Official President Abraham Lincoln and IL State Advocate for the “YES” Club Vision).

We are Honored for this Occasion to be included as an Endorsed Event of the IL Bicentennial Commission. This Event will also Salute “30 Years” of SOGN Community Service and Youth Empowerment as well as “10 years” of the YES Club! The “Young Eagles Success” (YES) Club Character Excellence Program for Children, Youth and Young Adults, is a Non-Profit Organization (Tax-Exempt 501c3 status through Sounds Of Good News, Inc.). Our “YES” Club Vision Theme is “Let’s POWER UP!”, with “UP” = “UNITY-PEACE” (“UNITY” = “United Now Inspiring Togetherness Year-round” and “PEACE” = “Positive Energy And Character Excellence”. Accordingly, our Vision is in complete alignment with the Powerful LEGACY of the History of IL (inc. the Wonderful Works of President Abraham Lincoln via the Gettysburg Address and Emancipation Proclamation; the “Eagle” is the IL Seal Bird as well as the USA Bird).

Our “Let it SHINE” Dr. King Day Event will exemplify the Bicentennial Celebration of the “Land of Lincoln” State of IL. Our “YES” Club Core Group has been a Main Performing Act for the last 10 years for the IL Association of Park Districts (IAPD) “Conservation Day”. We have also received a Bi-Partisan IL State Proclamation for 3-Decades of Community Service and Youth Empowerment (from Senators Steve Stadleman and Dave Syverson). Consequently, We are also Privileged to be a Bicentennial “Partner”.  Moreover, our “YES” Club Program, Projects and Events will “Celebrate and Educate” the History and Legacy of Illinois with Kids and Families, “Inspire” Communities, and make permanent investments in the Future.

Cost of Admission: $FREE to the Public
