Gallatin County Historical Society: Bicentennial Flag Raising Ceremony

The Bicentennial raising ceremony begins Sunday, May 20th at 1:00pm on the grounds of the John Marshall Home/Bank/Museum with a welcome and acknowledgments by NSDAR member Christy Short; next the colors will be presented by the NDSAR Long Knives Chapter, assisted by the local American Legion and Knights of Columbus color guards. The Pledge of Allegiance will be lead by NSDAR Michael Hillegas Chapter member Candy Duncan Evans. The gun salute will be done with the SAR muskets and cannon. Remarks will be given by Gallatin County Historical Society’s historian, Christy Short, followed by closing remarks and a benediction given by Veteran Mike Baglio, also a member of the Gallatin County Tourism. A paper airplane contest will be held for the children following the flag raising event, and the Museum and the old State Bank will be open to the public.
