CAPTAIN ABRAHAM LINCOLN-BLACK HAWK WAR, 14109 W. BLACK HAWK RD, PEARL CITY, IL 61032, Illinois
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
June 23, 2018, 1-3pm.
National Registered Black Hawk War Monument 1832 battle site at 14109 W Blackhawk Rd, Pearl City. Il. 61032. The CAPTAIN ABRAHAM LINCOLN-BLACK HAWK WAR Burial Detail Sculpture will be unveiled. This 7-foot sculpture mirrors the smaller version presented to the Lincoln Library, Springfield, IL in May 2015 by our 89th District Rep. Brian Stewart and Chairman William Hadley. This project was spearheaded by past Stephenson County Chairman John Bloom and honors young 23 Lincoln as the Citizen Soldier during the Black Hawk War.
The sculpture is Stephenson County’s Bicentennial contribution to the Lincoln memory. Perhaps a reflection of decisions our future president would make during his tenure.
Our guest speaker for this event is the Honorable Frank Williams, past Vietnam Army Captain veteran, retired Chief Justice of Rhode Island’s Supreme Court, renown author and Lincoln scholar. In attendance, National Gettysburg speaker Abraham Lincoln (our own George & Mona Buss) and National figure Stephan A. Douglas (our local Mr. & Mrs. Timothy Connors), as well as Galena’s Seven Generals, Rockford’s Civil War Battalion G, 89th District Rep. Brian Stewart, Stephenson County Chairman’s W. Hadley, past Chair. J. Bloom, Board members, retired SEAL and sculptor RJ Castro, and the lovely Georgann.
Cost of Admission: $FREE TO PUBLIC, HANDICAPP ACCESSABLE
