9:00 am - 5:00 pm
BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION – KIDS IN THE PARK program is for ages 6-12 and designed to encourage all participants to observe, appreciate, and learn more about nature. The program involves hiking and the outdoors while the participants identify trees using the free mobile friendly interactive tree tags with the website https://www.plantsmap.com/organizations/pyramid-state-park. On a Tree Hiking Trail, 4-H members are adding long-lasting tree identification tags with the interactive plaques to identify 50 trees and plants. The plaque identifying the tree by name is attached with spring screws that will ‘grow’ with the tree. A hiker can go to the website, hold the mobile phone near the plaque, and learn about the tree in front of them. Benches along the trail are made of recycled bottle caps and provided through the Homemakers Community Association and a grant. The ribbon cutting and hike are set for July 7, 2018, 9:00-10:30 a.m.
Cost of Admission: $Free
